Code of Conduct
Last updated: August 27, 2026
HIY is decentralized — there's no central authority pre-screening every post. That only works if we can rely on personal responsibility and respectful behavior toward each other. Without that, the idea of an independent platform doesn't hold up.
You must agree to this Code of Conduct the first time you open the app (onboarding step "Code of Conduct" → "I agree") — the text below is word-for-word what's shown there.
The rules
HIY thrives on real people treating each other with respect. A few simple rules keep it that way:
- Be yourself — no fake identities, no impersonating others.
- No hate, harassment, or discrimination — against anyone.
- No glorifying violence, no explicit or disturbing content.
- No spam, no advertising, no scams.
- Respect others' privacy — never share without permission.
Violations can be reported and may lead to a ban depending on severity. HIY is decentralized — that means more freedom, but also more responsibility for each of us.
How violations are handled
Reports are trust-weighted: friends count immediately at full weight, strangers only after a wait and with less weight. Instead of being silently deleted, hidden content is replaced by one of eight quips — transparency instead of silent censorship. Each hidden report counts as a strike; from three strikes on, a posting/commenting suspension follows, doubling each time (1, 2, 4, 8, 16 days). Suspected CSAE content is handled immediately regardless of this threshold — see our Child Safety Standards.
Technical support
Alongside the reporting system, HIY already checks content automatically and purely locally on your device before it's published: an image filter for nudity/violence and a word filter for slurs/threats. Both warn you instead of silently blocking — they don't replace the Code of Conduct, they complement it.
Scope
This Code of Conduct applies to HIY (Android and iOS), operated by Wiedmer Group KLG. For further legal information, see our Legal Notice, our Privacy Policy, and our Terms.
